KING 3/8" x 10" Bastard Square File
is an American pattern square file in a Double Cut and Second Cut Coarseness.
A
Double-Cut
file has two sets of diagonal rows of teeth. The second set of teeth is cut in the opposite diagonal direction, and on top of the first set. The first set of teeth is known as the over-cut while the second is called the up-cut. The up-cut is finer than the over-cut. The double-cut file is used with heavier pressure than the single-cut and removes material faster from the work piece.
A file with bastard coarseness contains coarse, heavy weight teeth for rapid and preliminary stock removal
Square
files are good for enlarging holes or recesses Mortises, key-ways and splines.
